Kudumbi Seva Sanghom (KSS) is the largest social organisation representing the Kudumbi community in Kerala, working for their social, cultural and educational upliftment.KSS was formed in 1965 with the registered office at Nanthiatakunnam, North Paravoor, Ernakulam (Dist), Kerala and the Admin. office at Town Hall cross road, Ernakulam, Kochi. Kudumbis are traditionally a farmer community .They are konkani speaking linguistic minority in Kerala .The legacy of Kudumbis is associated with Kunbi community of Goa.During the late 15th century, opposing the religious persecution imposed by the Portuguese in Goa ,kunbis along with other konkani speaking comunities where forced to migrate from Goa to various parts of Western coast of India which includes the present states like Karnataka,Maharashtra and also Kerala. The kunbis who settled in various parts of Kerala after the migration later came to be known as Kudumbis Kudumbis have preserved the konkani language till to this day.Unfortunately its fast dimishing from the ethos of younger generation. In 2009 KSS submitted a representation to the State Govt for providing teaching facilites in schools to learn Konkani. The State Govt issued an order for the above said demand. Now Konkani is taught in few Govt schools especially around western Ernakulam district where there is a sizable Kudumbi population..

Cherthala Taluk Union (CTU) is one of the Taluk unions under Kudumbi Seva Sanghom (KSS).CTU comprises of 19 KSS branches spread across the CherthalaTaluk , the northern part of Alappuzha District District in Central Kerala.

Late Sir T.C. Krishnan (1934-1991) was the founder leader of CTU .CTU was earlier the part of Vaikom- Cherthala Taluk union.Though T.C. Krishnan was from Vaikom,he had rendered most his social service in uniting the community of Cherthala taluk. He served as a school teacher in Govt. High school,Pattankad,Cherthala. He volunteered to uplift the kudumbis in cherthala who where socially and educationaly backward .He organised them under the banner of KSS to fight against superstitions, social inequality, illiteracy, inspired them to pursue higher education and guide them in getting Govt.jobs.Many of the KSS branches in CTU where established during his period. He was also a well versed Malayalam Scholar . His short stories and poems were also published in leading Malayalam publications. He was the also the editor of Margdeepam, the mouthpiece magazine published by KSS. Sir T.C. Krishnan later became the General Secretary of Kudumbi Seva Sanghom.

Sir T.C. Krishnan's selfless service to the community is still an inspiration and a guiding vision for many of KSS members of Cherthala taluk. Mr. Rajappan the present State Treasurer of KSS is from CTU . Mr. Radhakrishnan and Mr.K.C. Suresh the Ex-State Treasurers of KSS are from CTU.The 46th State conference of Kudumbi Seva Sanghom was held at Cherthala on 2009,May 30th and 31st.

CTU is governed by a committee comprising of five Executive members,a State Secretary and three Board Members. All the KSS -CTU Branch secretaries are the ex-officio committee members of CTU. Members of Kudumbi Mahila Seva Sanghom (KMSS-CTU) the women's wing and Kudumbi Yuvajana Sanghom -(KYS-CTU) the youth wing are also the part of CTU.

The present committee was elected in the CTU Annual general Body meetingheld on 19-June-2011
